[edit] How do I add a new user account (wiki editor)?

  1. Log in to the wiki, then go back to the log in page (Special:Userlogin).
  2. Click on "Create an account".
  3. Enter a username and email address.
  4. Click the button "by e-mail". The new user will then get an automated email and be prompted to log in and create their own password.
  5. Next, you must give the new user editing rights. Go to the user rights management page (Special:Userrights).
  6. Enter the new username
  7. Select “Sysops” under Available Groups to give the new user editing rights.
  8. Select “Bureaucrats” under Available Groups if you want the new user to have the ability to assign user rights to others.
  9. Save.

[edit] Is there a list of all registered users?

  1. The User List page (Special:Listusers) provides a list of all registered wiki users and their permission levels.

[edit] How do I create a new page?

There are a couple different ways you can create a new page.

  1. Do a search for the title of the new page.
  2. At the top of the search results page, you will see the text: "There is no page titled "xxx xxxxx". You can create this page."
  3. Click on "create this page" to create a new page with that title.
  4. It will take you to the editing view so you can add content.'
  5. Note: Don't forget to add links to your new page elsewhere in the wiki.

If you want to create a link to a new page and create the new page at the same time:

  1. Click the Edit tab at the top of the page where you want to add the link.
  2. Place your cursor at the point where you want to insert the new page link.
  3. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
  4. Type the name of the new page in the Link field and click OK.
  5. You should see a link to your new page in red. Click on it to add information.

[edit] How do I rename a page?

  1. Click on the Move tab at the top of the page.
  2. Enter the new page title.
  3. Click on the Move page button.

Note: The old title will become a redirect page, so any links to the old title will still go to the new page.

[edit] How do I delete a page?

  1. Click on the Delete tab at the top of the page.
  2. Enter a reason for the deletion.
  3. Click on the Delete page button.

[edit] How do I restore a page that I accidentally deleted?

  1. Go to Special:Log/delete to view a list of recently deleted pages.
  2. Click on the Restore link next to the page you want to restore.

[edit] How do I create a link to another wiki page?

  1. Highlight the word or phrase that you want to link.
  2. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
  3. Type at least the first 3 letters of the name of the page in the Link field. You should see a list of all page names that contain what you typed in the Automatic Search Results box.
  4. Click on the page name that you want to link to in the Automatic Search Results box.
  5. Click OK and Save page.

[edit] How do I create a link to an external web page?

  1. Highlight the word or phrase that you want to link.
  2. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
  3. Type (or paste) the complete URL in the Link field (for example, http://www.msu.edu).
  4. Click OK and Save page.

  1. Highlight the word or phrase that you want to link.
  2. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
  3. Type "mailto:" and then the email address in the Link field (for example, mailto:kille@msu.edu).
  4. Click OK and Save page.

[edit] How do I upload an image to the wiki?

  1. Click on the Upload file link in the Toolbox section in the sidebar.
  2. Browse to and select the file you want to upload.
  3. Enter a summary (description) of the file.
  4. Click the Upload file button.

[edit] How do I add an image to a page?

Note: The image must be uploaded to the wiki first (see instructions above).

  1. Click on the Insert/Edit Image button on the editing toolbar.
  2. Type at least the first 3 letters of the image file name. You should see the results in the Automatic Search Results box. To view a list of all image file names, go to  the Uploaded Files list.
  3. Click on the file you want to use.
  4. Type a caption.
  5. Click OK and Save page.

[edit] Is there a list of all of the images that have been uploaded?

  1. Go to the Uploaded Files link in the Staff section in the sidebar to view a list of all images that have been uploaded to the wiki.
  2. You can search for specific names or sort the list in various ways.

[edit] What is the difference between the Go and the Search buttons underneath the search box?

  • The function of the Go button is to display a page directly, instead of first having to select it from the search result page.
  • The Search button does a search for all instances of the text you want to find.

[edit] How do I add a category to a page?

  1. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
  2. Type "Category:Xxxxx" where Xxxxx is the name of the category.
  3. Click OK and Save page.

  1. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button on the editing toolbar.
